Freedom Morning Come is the Eintou Springer play that retells the reading of the Emancipation proclamation 1 August 1834. It has become a part of the annual celebration and started this morning at 6, in front of the Treasury Building.
Because I went 3Canal last evening into this morning, I missed the Ancestral Drum Call at All Stars Panyard, which ends with a procession to the play.
The play started at 6am and it was funny, emotional, but mostly it was an experience. You can tell the Eintou was trying to teach more than entertain with this play. Which I appreciated because we really don’t know weself.
Happy Emancipation Day!
